Groote vacccine rollout postponed

The proposed COVID-19 vaccine rollout for Groote Eylandt on 27 April 2021 is being rescheduled due to changes in the National COVID-19 vaccine rollout. The COVID-19 vaccine rollout was planned to start between 27-30 April in Angurugu, Umbakumba and Alyangula. Milyakburra was scheduled for the following week. The NT Government is currently working closely with the Australian Government around the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine for Northern Territory, and this includes the Groote and Bickerton communities.

New mask requirements for airports and domestic and international travel

From Wednesday 20th January you will not be allowed to enter Groote Eylandt airport or take your flight if you are not wearing a mask.

It is now compulsory for face masks to be worn at all major NT airports and while on board an aircraft. Masks must be worn when inside the Darwin, Alice Springs, Yulara, Gove and Groote Eylandt airports and when on the airfield. Children under the age of 12 and people with a specified medical condition are not required to wear a mask. It is the responsibility of individuals to supply their own masks.
