Hi everyone, here is a message from the Chief Minister Michael Gunner:
This is a message to everyone living in remote communities, towns and homelands.
The big worry of Michael Gunner has been what could happen if the virus got into remote communities.
So, he thanks everyone for everything that we’ve done to keep the coronavirus out from our communities.
The Northern Territory is still safe — but in other parts of Australia, the virus is getting worse and worse.
The whole of Melbourne is now under lockdown and coronavirus cases are increasing, fast.
That is why Michael Gunner has said that people Victoria and Sydney are not allowed to come to the Northern Territory, for a long time.
To be clear: our Northern Territory border is still shut to people from Victoria and Sydney.
And from July 17, we will still keep the Northern Territory shut to any person coming from any places with lots of coronavirus.
So, what does it mean for us?
We can continue to travel about the place, to visit friends and families, and to go to town for shopping, and go to go to the clinic.
But as we do this, we have to remember to keep safe and to be careful.
We have to keep our distance from each other, and to keep washing our hands.
Wherever we go, whatever we do, we must remember that this virus has not gone away.
That means we have an important job to keep our families safe.
We know the virus can hurt them — it can kill them.
That’s why we’ve got to keep the coronavirus out of the Northern Territory.
We all have to do the right thing.
And the Chief Minster will do everything he can to protect everyone in the Northern Territory.
We’ve done great work so far. Let’s keep going. Together.
