[27/6/2021] Advisory to all ALC staff that that no ALC staff are to travel to Groote from interstate nor internally from the greater Darwin region.

Upcoming meetings wil be postponed or held online.

Groote Archipelago COVID-19 ADVICE #51 – 28 June 2021 - COVID-19 Update: Lockdown restrictions in place

A 48 hour lockdown is in place for Darwin, Palmerston and Litchfield.

At this stage, there are no cases of COVID-19 in the East Arnhem region.

To prevent COVID entering the region, the following changes to transport have been implemented:

  • Flights out of Darwin into the region only for essential workers
  • Road checkpoints have been set up on the Stuart and Arnhem Highways to ensure that no one from the areas in lockdown travels into East Arnhem by road.

COVID-19 Update: Lockdown restrictions in place (Darwin area)

From 1.00pm on 27th June 2021, the Darwin, Palmerston and Darwin rural areas will enter a full lockdown for 48 hours.

This follows confirmation of four new covid-19 positive cases all linked to the Tanami mine case.

Residents from Darwin, Palmerston and the rural areas must stay at home for the 48 hour lockdown.

ALC Staff Reclassified as Essential Workers for Early Vaccination

There will be an ‘essential workers’ vaccination roll out prior to the Groote roll out, on 13 and 14 May in Alyangula.

All ALC staff are considered ‘essential workers’ and are encouraged to receive the vaccination on these dates. This includes Indigenous staff. This will be through a booking system.

The Gemco roll out will start the following week and all Alyangula residents are encouraged to attend the ASEC hall from 18 May. Community roll out will kick off the last week of June prior to Royalty Distribution.
